What is Economic Liberty

Imagine being at a job you hate and knowing that you can walk into your boss' office at any time and quit...
Imagine being fired from a job and not panicking over how you are going to pay your bills this month...
These are the indicators of economic liberty. If you are like most Americans, you don't have it. The thought of losing your job probably fills you with fear and uncertainty about your immediate future. You know you have economic liberty when you experience the feeling of peace and security that comes with knowing that you live within your means and have the financial resources necessary to make it through the tough times in your life.
The Piasecki Foundation is dedicated to providing Americans, especially low-income Americans, with economic liberty. There are two major problems Americans face today that impact their ability to attain economic liberty.
Lack of High-Paying Skills
The ability to earn a high income greatly increases an individual's chances of attaining economic liberty. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) jobs are in high demand and pay exceptionally well. Plus, according to US News, many middle-skill STEM jobs require a high school diploma but do not require a college degree. Despite a critical and growing need for employees in these highly paid industries, there is a distinct shortage of qualified individuals to fill these jobs. These facts provide a lucrative opportunity for people willing to learn the skills necessary to compete for these jobs. Our Career Training program helps low-income individuals obtain the skills and training necessary to take advantage of this opportunity.
Lack of Savings
Recent research shows that over half of all Americans live paycheck to paycheck. In a separate survey by the Federal Reserve Board, almost half of the respondents said they did not have $400 in savings to cover emergency expenses. A lack of savings makes it difficult for the average family to handle any emergency they may face such as loss of employment, car repair, illness or death of a loved one. A person cannot achieve economic liberty without sufficient liquid assets to make it through the financial hurdles of life. Our seminars on finances and investments provide people with the knowledge needed to develop, maintain and grow their wealth so that they have sufficient funds to attain economic liberty.
With today's volatile economy, it is imperative that individuals safeguard themselves by learning skills so that they can achieve economic liberty. We believe that, by providing people with the skills they need to earn more income and manage their wealth more efficiently, we can assist them in escaping the imprisoning bonds of poverty, eliminate their dependence on government subsidies and save money and resources for all Americans.
